The National Convention on the European Union is a voluntary, non-governmental and non-profit alliance of associations, founded for an indefinite period of time to achieve the objectives in the field of European integration and European values, democracy, rule of law, respect of human and minority rights and market economy. The National Convention on the EU was registered as a legal entity in September 2018. Before this formal registration, the National Convention had been operational since 2006, when it was established as the informal network of Civil Society Organizations, managed by the European Movement in Serbia. Project aims to support the National Convention on the European Union as an association of civil society organisations that represents the interests of Serbian citizens at all stages of the European integration process to perform its role in supporting the Negotiating Team and providing recommendations and opinions on the meeting of criteria and terms of membership, as well as in monitoring of the implementation of the required reforms, informing the public and promoting the culture of dialogue and citizens’ participation. Project activities are directed towards implementation at the both national
and local level and inclusion of citizens and organizations all over Serbia in the activities of the National Convention and the EU integration process. The project also works directly towards communication and raising awareness among citizens in Serbia of the importance of the EU integration for their everyday lives. Finally, there is the project component which aims to inform the EU about the state of affairs in all negotiation chapters, main problems, obstacles and civil society attitudes towards the numerous public policies made by the Government within the EU integration process.
